DIVERSITIES, FAMILIES AND AFFECTIVE-SEXUAL EDUCATION
ABSTRACT
The symposium will address the situation of the study on families with same-sex parents, and the analysis of the beliefs associated with the quality of their upbringing, as well as their rejection. In addition, it will also address topics as diverse as the analysis of the rejection of transgender people, the link between families and the associative movement, the importance of affective-sex education in schools and an approach to the emotional state of LGBT+ people during the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
FILIATION
Dolores Frías Navarro, Professor of Methodology of Behavioral Sciences, Faculty of Psychology, University of Valencia. Director of the Research Unit ‘Methods and Designs in Applied Psychology’ (REME). She has a research line dedicated to the study of families with same-sex parents and to the analysis of the rejection and beliefs about the quality of their parenting. She has developed measurement instruments to assess overt and subtle rejection of such families. Currently, her work is developed in the field of psychological health of LGBT+ people, analyzing their experiences and expectations of rejection as key elements linked to the stress of sexual minorities. Within this field, the research team is developing measurement instruments adapted to the new realities with the aim of facilitating assessment and intervention.
